This non-commercial website describes some rare and endangered tree species that grow wild in the forests of the eastern and cebtral United States. These species include the Carolina Silverbell, the American Elm, the Cinnamonbark Clethra, the Georgia Plume, the Lost Franklinia, the wild Persimmon, the Mountain Camellia, and many other rare native trees. For each species, there is a description of its growth rate, its natural environment, its native range, and its conservation status. Most of the descriptions also include photographs and a map of the species` natural wild distribution within the country. The potential uses of each species in the home landscape and in forestry projects are also discussed. Finally, the site includes information about how to obtain and grow each tree type.
