Geography has been important for as long as we’ve known going back to our great ancestors. Maps have been used to understand what belongs where. Explorers relied on maps for navigation and survival. GIS (Geographic Information Systems) is computer-based tool that assists in the analysis, storage, manipulation and output of spatial information. Now, GIS is being used in many aspects of life. Spatial information exists in business, natural resources, public safety, environmental protection, GPS navigation and the list goes in. GIS Geography educates on all aspects of Geographic Information Systems including spatial analysis, data sources, cartographic maps, software and remote sensing.
